BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Assessor’s Association recently named Acadia Parish Assessor James J. “Jimbo” Petitjean as the “Assessor of the Year” at their December association meeting held recently in Baton Rouge . This is the second time in the past three years that Petitjean has received this distinguished award, which recognizes one assessor each year for outstanding service to the profession and the greater community.
“What an honor for our office and staff,” Petitjean said. “Being surrounded by competent and qualified individuals who enjoy serving our parish is truly a blessing. I am humbled that our commitment to excellence has been recognized by this award.”
Serving as Assessor of Acadia Parish Assessor since 2013, “Jimbo” Petitjean stays involved in critical issues concerning taxation on a statewide level and is a persistent advocate for the citizens of his parish and our organization. If you need help, he is a phone call away,” said Louisiana Assessor’s Association President and Vermilion Parish Assessor Gabe Marceaux. “Acadia Parish is truly fortunate to have an assessor with such a sincere love for his parish and the people he serves.”
Gathering accurate assessment data, creating/maintaining detailed records, and keeping parish residents informed are the principles of Petitjean’s service as Assessor of Acadia Parish.
“Our office’s goals of accuracy, uniformity, and transparency have been enhanced by strategic investments in continuing education, technology and equipment. The process of accessing and navigating information concerning assessments has improved for our parish citizens,” Petitjean said.
Petitjean serves as Chairman of the Legislative Committee of the Louisiana Assessor’s Association and is a member of the Insurance and By-Laws Committees.
